The Department initially operated as the Technology Transfer Department within the Department of Organization and Management of Scientific Activity. Since November 2025, it has continued its activities as an independent unit under the name “Department of University–Industry Cooperation and Technology Transfer.” Within the framework of UNEC’s interests, the Department ensures the alignment of the needs of regional enterprises and organizations with UNEC’s existing fundamental and strategic research activities, the transformation of knowledge into technology, the commercialization of research outcomes, and their application in economic processes.
The Department’s areas of activity also include the legal protection of organizational services aimed at technological development and the stimulation of innovation, the protection of intellectual property rights related to ideas and inventions, and their patenting. In addition, the provision of consulting, scientific and technical, and training services in the field of innovation falls within the Department’s remit. Its core responsibilities include the development of databases of innovative technologies, providing advisory support on the assessment of the commercial potential of innovative technologies, and directing research and development requests related to innovation activities and technology transfer to relevant research institutes and centers.
