The Baku Planning and Economics Technical School was established by Resolution No. 747 of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR dated 23 November 1965 and by Order No. 128 of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of the Azerbaijan SSR dated 7 May 1966. The Baku Planning and Economics Technical School operated from 1966 until 2002. By Resolution No. 140 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 26 August 2002, titled “On the Improvement of the Network of Secondary Specialized Education Institutions,” the Baku State Social and Economics College was established on the basis of the former technical school. Pursuant to Resolution No. 250 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 10 July 2020, the Baku State Social and Economics College was reorganized as the Social and Economic College operating under the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) with the status of a public legal entity.
